Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 955-SS-DST does have a ceramic disc cartridge. There are also non-metallic parts to the cartridge, and this is a normal industry standard for ceramic disc cartridges.

Question

My 980T-SS-DST has very, very limited temperature adjustment. The replacement valve is the same way. Any ideas?

The valve has never shown any functional problems, water flow is as expected with full range of motion for the action of the lever. The problem is an immeasurably small degree of temp adjustment at the center of the lever's range of motion. Move beyond the exact center and you have all hot or all cold, obviously depending on the side you move to. This is very frustrating. I spoke to customer service about this and another unrelated problem involving the touch control and they sent me a replacement valve, but the problem is the same; for practical purposes there is no temp adjustment it's all hot or all cold.

Thank you for your question. I apologize that you are having trouble adjusting your temperature. We recommend turning the volume on at full power and then getting the temperature you would like. Once that is done, leave the faucet on and it will always go to that temperature.

When replacing part# RP50587, what is the best process for removing the bonnet nut? Is a special wrench required? Diffcult to tell where to loosen.

Hi Amber, Thank you for your question. The RP50587 can be removed using an adjustable wrench. The top of the bonnet nut will have the flat edges where the wrench is positioned. Here is a link to the How to replace the DST cartridge.

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model RP50587 is for the newer 468-DST models. What you have is an older model 468, and the peice you need is an RP70 ball assembly. It is a different kind of stem assembly.

Question

valve assembly for delta faucet 16955-sssd-dst

When you remove the handle, you can see where one of the 4 black tabs that click into the sleeve assembly is broken and one is missing. I have attached a picture. The one the allen wrench is pointing to is broken and the one next to it is missing. It appears that the blacks tabs are located on either the bonnet or the valve assembly. However, in the diagram for replacement parts, neither of these parts has the 4 black tabs on them. Can you tell me which part we need to buy?

Hi Tam, Thank you for your question. The RP51481SS sleeve assembly is the part that has the 4 black tabs.

The tabs are an internal component to the sleeve.

Hi Bubba, Thank you for your question. The orange button on the RP50587 valve assembly is the handle limit stop. The stop limits the handle motion to the hot water side. The cartridge comes in the full range setting. I have attached the portion of the manual that covers the HLS below.

Hi Russ, Thank you for your question. Before replacing the RP50587 valve assembly try to tighten the RP51503 bonnet that holds the cartridge in place first. This may stop the leak, if not replace the RP50587.

Dave
