Question

Need more than the 600 rennov. kit offers

I also will need the shower arm, drain, flanges, tub overflow disk, etc. Do I buy all those separately and does delta have them...or are they generic? Would those also be available at a store like Home Depot or Lowes?

Hi Babs,

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP54870 is the renovation kit for the 600 series faucets. It is everything that you will need at the valve and does not include the tub spout, shower arm, shower flange, or tub drain. You can pair them with any of our showerheads and tub spouts or tub drains by matching the Chrome finish. Check with your local retailer or wholesaler for a wide variety of choices.

Thanks.

Hi Steve, Thank you for your question. If you have a 1/2" copper pipe with a male threaded adapter sweated onto the pipe you can cut the adapter off of the copper pipe, sweat on the RP12307 tub spout adapter that comes with the RP34357 tub spout according to the instructions and install the tub spout. If you have a 4" long threaded pipe you will have to switch the pipe nipple out to a shorter length that will extend beyond the finished wall from 5/8" to 1-5/8" and screw on the RP12307 tub spout adapter and then the tub spout itself.

Hi Bob, Thank you for your question. You can try tightening the adjusting ring that is part of the cap under the handle to stop the leak. If this does not help, you will want to replace the cam assembly. The part number for the cam assembly is RP61 if your faucet has a lever style handle, and RP188 if you have the acrylic knob handle. The RP54870 renovation kit would supply all new internal parts.

Question

Is it possible to change Delta antique gold shower head, tub spout, and two crystal ball H/C handles with newer ORB handles.

We built our house in 1987...using Delta shower/tub faucets. They are antique gold with a shower head, tub spout, and two crystal ball twist hot/cold handles. I am updating...but do not want to change custom tile. Is it possible to change out with newer Oil Rubbed Bronze fixtures using same plumbing infrastructure? Everything still works well. It looks like everything utilizes one handle now...but our handles are spread too far apart (8 inches) to accommodate a 4 inch escutcheon

Hi JMc,

Thank you for your question. Based on your description, it sounds like you have a two handle tub shower configuration. We do offer a renovation plate to cover up the holes and convert your faucet to a single handle faucet when you change the valve. It is Delta Faucet model # RP29827RB. You will need to go into the wall to replace the valve but you not need to replace tiles.

Thanks.

Question

What do I need to change to an oil brushed bronze shower kit?

We have a 20 year old delta shower faucet with a push button diverter on the plate. To turn on the water, you have to lift up on the knob and then turn it for hot or cold. We want to replace it with an oil brushed bronze color, but I cannot find any replacements with a diverter on the plate. Can I change this out or not? If I can, what will I need? How difficult will it be because we don't have access behind the wall?

Hi James, Thank you for your question. To update your 600 series faucet to a rubbed bronze finish you can order the RP54870RB renovation kit. You will need to order the plug for the push button diverter RP2865 to plug off the push button diverter and a diverter tub spout in the RB venetian bronze finish. A shower head, shower arm , and shower flange in venetian bronze should complete the project.

Question

Coordinating parts?

I plan on purchasing the stainless version to replace an old 600 series trim. What tub spout and tub drain/overflow switch coordinate with this?
Also, It currently has a push button diverter that leaks a bit and part of the water flow is still coming out of the tub spout when the shower is turned on. Will plugging the existing push button diverter and using this kit with a new spout diverter fix these issues? The current set is at least 20 years old if not older. Thank you!

Hi Jen, Thank you for your question. The plug for the push button diverter is the RP2865. The overflow plate is RP6403SS, screws RP6404SS, and the drain strainer is RP7430SS. We have several styles of tub spouts like the model RP17453SS, or the RP19820SS that will match the new trim.

Question

RP54870PB Polished Brass 600 series trim kit still being sold?

Is the above part still being sold? There was a previous question about purchasing this trim kit with a polished brass finish and the answer said to purchase the above part number. Unfortunately, you do not list this as an available finish with the RP54870 part. I could buy just a polished brass escutcheon, but would still need the sleeve and ball cam in polished brass. I would want a handle too, but would get by with using a new crystal ball.

Question

crystal ball set screw

I have a fifteen year old Delta shower body with push button diverter / its a bath tub installation. The crystal ball has broken. I am seeking a new crystal ball handle. I ordered two replacement knobs for the shower body, each supplier sent me a crystal ball with a straight set screw. The ball i seek to replace had a grey nylon insert which seated into the crystal ball. The set screw slid thru the ball ( and nylon) into the valve. The handles i ordered were different model balls and contained no nylon insert. Also the orientation of the handle wasn't quite the same as what i seek to replace. Can anyone tell me where i can get this old handle, screw and nylon?

Question

My 600 series shower head is leaking. Would this kit solve this problem? Is there a separate cartridge I would need to buy?

Is there a way to know if this is a shower valve assembly problem instead? My 600 series is the plastic knob type that pulls up and is about 20 years old.

Hi Phil, Thank you for your question. The RP54870SS is a renovation kit for the 600 series tub/shower faucets that replaces the internal and external parts for the tub/shower control. This kit should stop a showerhead leak. Normally switching out the RP4993 seats and springs and cleaning the ball assembly will stop most leaks in a 600 series without the need for the renovation kit unless you want to update the look of your faucet trim.

Question

Use this kit to upgrade Delta 1600?

Can this reno kit be used on a Delta 1600 faucet that uses what appears to be an RP1991 cartridge? Can you replace the cartridge with the ball? If not what valve(s) are compatible w/ this reno kit, as there does not appear to be a trim upgrade in antique bronze for the 1600 faucet.

Question

Yes or no: 1. can this be done without access from behind wall? 2. without removing tiles?

I need to replace a 600 series with push button diverter with new faucet and I know I need the plug for the hole where diverter was and I need a new tub spout with diverter.

I think I'm clear that replacing faucet and adding plug can be done without access from behind and no tile removal, but I'm not clear that new tub spout with diverter can be installed without access from behind and without tile removal. please clarify.

Hi Junkmail,
Thank you for your question. If you are planning on installing RP54870 you should be able to do this without access from behind the wall or removing your tiles. Everything installs on the wall or through the front of the unit. You are correct that you will need to change to a spout with diverter.Installation of the tub spout may vary depending on how it was originally installed but you still can accomplish this from outside the wall. The part number of the plug for the push button diverter is RP2865.

With my current shower I must push the shower handle up to get the water to run and then twist it to change the temperature. If I use this conversion kit will I still need to pull the handle up to start the water flow or will I just twist the handle to start and stop the water flow like with other showers?

Thank you for your question. When upgrading with Delta Faucet RP54870RB if you already had a lever handle on your faucet, we recommend not using the conversion ball that is included with the new kit.

If you had a crystal ball and have now switched to a lever handlel using the conversion ball included with your kit, your hot and cold may not be switched. The lever handle turns so that the top of the handle points to the temperature of the water. When the hot water is on, the bottom of the lever will be pointing to the right. When the cold water is on, the bottom of the lever will be pointing to the left.

Question

Does the renovation kit work with the 600 series shower faucet that came with a metal handle?

I believe that my shower faucet has the RP70 stainless ball in the valve and not the RP212 that the kit references. Is the RP20111 a replacement or upgrade for the RP70? I am pretty sure the valve body is the same.
