Question

Replacing Tub and Shower parts

We purchased a home that was built in 1992-97 which has "Brass" tub and shower parts. We'd like to change out to Chrome but not sure what model # for parts. First off how would we figure that out? The tub spout has a "pull down" divert if that helps ???

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer

Hi Sandie, Thank you for your question. Pictured is a 1500 series faucet that appears to have the escutcheon/round plate screws in a line at 5 and 7 o-clock. If that is the case there is no upgrade or renovation kit available for this model. You would have to replace the rough in valve as well as ther faucet trim.
If the screw holes are located diagonally at 1 and 7 o-clock you can switch out to the new 17 series trims. You would order the Monitor 17 series trim of your choice, a RP32104 cartridge, and a RP22734 bonnet nut.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Joe, Thank you for your question. The reduced flow could be related to the cartridge, debris in the lines, or mineral build up. We recommend removing and cleaning the cartridge and flushing the lines. Here is a link to our How to flush the lines on your Delta tub/shower faucet video.

Question

Difference between RP47422 and RP25513

Hello. I was going to replace the stems in my bathroom faucet. The 47422 is listed as a pair of ceramic stems. Will these interchange with the RP25513? If so, is one preferred more than the other?

Hi Kenny, Thank you for your question. The RP47422 ceramic stem cartridges are not interchangeable with the RP25513 stem assemblies. The RP8230 is the ceramic stem assembly that can be substituted for the RP25513. The ceramic units should last longer than the other.

Question

upgrading shower trim

Just bought a house with polished brass Delta Monitor single-handle, dual function shower trim (3 total) but don't know the model. The house was built 21 years ago and I assume they're original. Want to replace them with bronze trim. I have no problem replacing the cartridges if needed, which is probably not a bad idea given the age. The question is, will the existing valve take all Delta cartridges, or would I have to replace the valve, something I'd rather avoid.

Hi Ken, Thank you for your question. Pictured is a 1500 series faucet. You can upgrade the trim while using the existing valve. You will need to order a Monitor 17 series trim of your choice, a new RP32104 cartridge, and a new RP22734 bonnet nut. The new trim will ship with a new RP46463 cartridge, this cartridge will not work in your existing valve.

Question

relacement of shower faucet and front plate

I have a delta shower faucet. I do not know the model #; it was put in the house by the builder (2004). It is "typical round faced delta faucet with one lever for hot/cold adjustment. I would like to replace this faucet and the faucet plate surround with a new delta. I just want to make a cosmetic changeover without making any plumbing changes. Simply put, take off the old faucet and plate, reattach to the existing value and be done. Is this possible?

Hi Paul, Thank you for your question. Based on your description and faucet age you should have a 1300/1400 series faucet. Any of our new 13/14 series trims will work with your existing rough in valve. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge that will not fit your existing valve. You will have to continue to use your old cartridge or replace it with a new RP19804.

RP188 one-piece cam & packing

on Classic Single-Handle Lav Faucets, can the “old” style cap RP50 be used with the “new” style RP188 one-piece cam & packing, and if so, is the RP250 adjusting ring still necessary? Also, can the new-style cap RP1050 be used with the older 2-piece cam & packing?

Hi Nailbiter, Thank you for your question. You will want to remove the adjusting ring from the RP50 cap to use with the 1 piece cam assembly. Without the adjusting ring we would not recommend using the RP1050 cap with the older style 2 piece cam and packing as the cap might not give enough downward pressure to create the needed seal.

Thanks, Dave. Is there a way to tell an old, early-70’s faucet from a newer one? Are the spring/seat bores different? It seems like I can get either the old, long springs or the newer, short conical springs to physically fit in any of the faucets I’ve tried.

Hi Russ, Your pictured faucet is either a 1700 series made prior to February 2006, or a 17 series made since that time. If you have a 1700 series you can purchase a new 17 series Monitor pressure balanced trim in the (RB) venetian bronze finish that will fit your existing valve. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge that will not fit your rough. You wil have to continue to use your old cartridge or replace it with a new RP32104.
If your faucet is the newer 17 series it will be equipped with our R10000 multichoice universal rough which will allow you to use any of our current trims.
If you are unsure of the install date the easiest way to tell which model you have is from the top of the cartridge. The top of the 1700 series cartridge will be white, the top of the 17 series cartridge will be gray.
Thanks,
Dave

Question

Where do I get a new o-ring for this stopper

This is a tub drain stopper which I removed by unscrewing a set screw. The black o-ring was off the stopper and around the supporting frame below. Tha o-ring is dry rotted and broken. The o-ring looks to be 5 inches in circumference and the stopper is about 1.5 inches in diameter. This drain was installed in 1988 when the house was built.

Question

Can I replace the visible portions of my tub/shower system with a kit?

I recently purchased a home built in 1993. In 2 bathrooms there are Delta Monitor units (I believe they are 1500 series from my review of other posts). We would like to change the visible portions from Chrome to an Oil Rubbed Bronze. I also need to replace the cartridges as both leak. Do you sell kits for doing all of this or even just the finished pieces? I don't want to have to purchase an entirely new unit as I believe the valves are fine and I don't want to cut into the plumbing right now. However, if I purchase an entirely new unit can you tell me which if any models would be compatible with the Monitor 1500 series valve?

Actually mine existing units have screws at 5 & 7. In addition the existing valve does not have thread holes at the proper depth at 1 & 11. So the new units with screws 180 degrees from each other won't work with this valve. As you can see from the attached pictures I have PB plumbing so I don't really want to replace the existing valve.

Hi Studyingtobehandy,

Thank you for your question. You should be able to update your shower faucets as long as the backplate holes are positioned at 1 and 7 on a clock. You will need to purchase cartridge model # RP32104. You can then choose any 1700 series trim but you will not be able to use the cartridge that is included in your new trim.

Thanks.

Question

In2ition handheld hose

I have just purchased and installed a new Brushed Nickel finish Delta In2ition in my rather small stand-alone shower. The included 6' hose is much too long as due to said size of my shower, a 2' hose would completely fit the bill.

Are such shorter hoses available?
