Question

relacement of shower faucet and front plate

I have a delta shower faucet. I do not know the model #; it was put in the house by the builder (2004). It is "typical round faced delta faucet with one lever for hot/cold adjustment. I would like to replace this faucet and the faucet plate surround with a new delta. I just want to make a cosmetic changeover without making any plumbing changes. Simply put, take off the old faucet and plate, reattach to the existing value and be done. Is this possible?

Hi Paul, Thank you for your question. Based on your description and faucet age you should have a 1300/1400 series faucet. Any of our new 13/14 series trims will work with your existing rough in valve. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge that will not fit your existing valve. You will have to continue to use your old cartridge or replace it with a new RP19804.

Question

RP188 one-piece cam & packing

on Classic Single-Handle Lav Faucets, can the “old” style cap RP50 be used with the “new” style RP188 one-piece cam & packing, and if so, is the RP250 adjusting ring still necessary? Also, can the new-style cap RP1050 be used with the older 2-piece cam & packing?

Hi Nailbiter, Thank you for your question. You will want to remove the adjusting ring from the RP50 cap to use with the 1 piece cam assembly. Without the adjusting ring we would not recommend using the RP1050 cap with the older style 2 piece cam and packing as the cap might not give enough downward pressure to create the needed seal.

Proper seats & springs for old single-handle lav faucet

Can the RP4993 seats and springs be used in early-70’s vintage lav faucets that originally came with the longer RP134 seats and springs? I maintain many of what look like Model 502 Classic Single-Handle Lav Faucets and I‘ve exhausted my supply of the no longer available RP134‘s.

Thanks, Dave. Is there a way to tell an old, early-70’s faucet from a newer one? Are the spring/seat bores different? It seems like I can get either the old, long springs or the newer, short conical springs to physically fit in any of the faucets I’ve tried.

Hi studyingtobehandy, Thank you for your question. Pictured is a 1500 series faucet that now uses the RP32104 cartridge. Unfortunately since your model has the escutcheon holes at 5 and 7 o-clock at the bottom of the plate we do not offer any type of remodel kit or other finishes for this unit.

Hi Russ, Your pictured faucet is either a 1700 series made prior to February 2006, or a 17 series made since that time. If you have a 1700 series you can purchase a new 17 series Monitor pressure balanced trim in the (RB) venetian bronze finish that will fit your existing valve. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge that will not fit your rough. You wil have to continue to use your old cartridge or replace it with a new RP32104.
If your faucet is the newer 17 series it will be equipped with our R10000 multichoice universal rough which will allow you to use any of our current trims.
If you are unsure of the install date the easiest way to tell which model you have is from the top of the cartridge. The top of the 1700 series cartridge will be white, the top of the 17 series cartridge will be gray.
Thanks,
Dave

Question

Where do I get a new o-ring for this stopper

This is a tub drain stopper which I removed by unscrewing a set screw. The black o-ring was off the stopper and around the supporting frame below. Tha o-ring is dry rotted and broken. The o-ring looks to be 5 inches in circumference and the stopper is about 1.5 inches in diameter. This drain was installed in 1988 when the house was built.

Hi Dave, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we no longer make a twist and lock bath drain assembly and we cannot verify that the pictured drain is a Delta product. Try your local hardware store or plumbing supply that offers a selection of o-rings for a solution.

Question

Can I replace the visible portions of my tub/shower system with a kit?

I recently purchased a home built in 1993. In 2 bathrooms there are Delta Monitor units (I believe they are 1500 series from my review of other posts). We would like to change the visible portions from Chrome to an Oil Rubbed Bronze. I also need to replace the cartridges as both leak. Do you sell kits for doing all of this or even just the finished pieces? I don't want to have to purchase an entirely new unit as I believe the valves are fine and I don't want to cut into the plumbing right now. However, if I purchase an entirely new unit can you tell me which if any models would be compatible with the Monitor 1500 series valve?

Actually mine existing units have screws at 5 & 7. In addition the existing valve does not have thread holes at the proper depth at 1 & 11. So the new units with screws 180 degrees from each other won't work with this valve. As you can see from the attached pictures I have PB plumbing so I don't really want to replace the existing valve.

Hi Studyingtobehandy,

Thank you for your question. You should be able to update your shower faucets as long as the backplate holes are positioned at 1 and 7 on a clock. You will need to purchase cartridge model # RP32104. You can then choose any 1700 series trim but you will not be able to use the cartridge that is included in your new trim.

Thanks.

Question

In2ition handheld hose

I have just purchased and installed a new Brushed Nickel finish Delta In2ition in my rather small stand-alone shower. The included 6' hose is much too long as due to said size of my shower, a 2' hose would completely fit the bill.

Are such shorter hoses available?

Question

Delta monitor single handle shower hard to turn on/off

I have a single handle Delta monitor single handle shower that is hard to turn on and off. It also makes a squeaking noise when turning on and off. Not sure what the issue is? I took off the cover at the front of the faucet and removed the single screw...beyond that, I have no idea. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. I have included a picture of the faucet.

Hi Blake616, Thank you for your question. Pictured is a 1500 series faucet. Replacing the RP32104 cartridge should solve the issue that you are having. You will first need to shut of the water supply to the faucet. Remove the temperature and volume control handles, trim sleeve, and bonnet nut to access the cartridge. I have attached the parts breakdown for the 1500 series below to help with your repair.

Model 3530 - Changing Brass/Chrome to All Chrome

Dave, Thank you for answering my questions. See attached picture, Model 3530 (I think). You previously listed RP18508 for the aerator replacement, should it be RP19754? Also, is the brass flange on the base of the faucet handle included in the handle kit? Thanks again!

Hi Lynette, The 1990's version of the 3530 was not the same as the current LF version. The parts diagram I have for that time period shows the RP18508 aerator. Both aerators will fit the faucet but the flow rates are different. The RP18508 has a flow rate of 2.2 gallons per minute, the RP19754 is 1.5 gpm. The handle base is a separate piece. The part number for the chrome finish handle base is RP23095.

Question

Can you please tell me what part numbers I need to order to convert from my brass/chrome fixtures to all chrome?

My house was built in the late 90s. All of my faucets (tub and sink) are Delta in the Chrome/Brass finish. I would like to convert them to all Chrome. If it is possible to do this, can you please give me part order numbers to convert them? I have attached one picture of each style faucet (one of each style sink faucets and one of each style tub faucets). Thank you.

Question

Delta 172 faucet?

My kitchen faucet looks exactly like the 172 model, but in taking the handle apart (problem is that the faucet is dripping from the spout), the parts do not match what's in the 172 manual. My faucet handle has what seems to be an RP50 cap assembly with the white plastic ring you unscrew. Is this actually an older model?

Hi Chris, Thank you for your question. There is an older version of the model 172, prior to September 2002 that uses the RP50 cap. Other than the cap all of the other parts are the same. You will want to replace the RP4993 seats and springs and make sure that the RP70 ball assembly is clean and free of debris to stop the leak in your faucet.
